Alain Redder Obituary

Alain Redder, 50, a Ridgefield resident, died of a heart attack on December 30, 2006.
Born on December 10, 1956, in Long Island, N.Y., Alain was the youngest of three children born to Gysele Mouchard, a native of Paris, and Sam Redder.
Alain was an accomplished photographer who started his career in fashion and advertising photography in Paris. For the past 15 years, he's made New York and Connecticut his home base and recently expanded his scope of work to include wedding and portrait photography. Alain's easy-going personality, creative brilliance and ability to see and capture the essence of the people he photographed made his work truly remarkable. These same traits, coupled with his loving, generous, playful, completely authentic spirit, made him an extraordinary human being. Alain was the kind of man who always had a kind word for everyone he met. He had a way of lifting people's spirits when they were around him. He had a gift for bringing out the best in people and he leaves this world with legions who feel so much richer for having known him.
Alain was a man of many passions. He was an expert sailor, an avid reader and a music lover. Perhaps the most defining element of Alain is seen with startlingly clarity in the love he felt for his wife, Judy, and their daughters, Lulu and Josie. Judy, a talented photo stylist, met Alain while on a photo shoot together in New York. Judy's job was to put all the pieces in place to pull all the aesthetic appeal out of a shot and Alain's job was to capture those perfectly placed elements on film. In work, and in their lives, Judy and Alain were ideal partners. They always played to one another's strengths, appreciated each other's beauty and courage and fortified one another's weak spots. As parents, they demonstrated what it means to be a joyful person of tenderness, integrity, character and kindness. Lulu and Josie are wonderful girls who have learned well from their parents' example.
Alain's untimely death is an enormous loss for Judy and the girls, as well as Alain's brother Billy, and his sister Daniele as well as their families and Alain's many friends and colleagues.
A service of remembrance was held for Alain on January 2, 2007, at St. Mary's Church.
Memorial donations can be sent to the Lulu and Josie College Fund c/o the Ridgefield Bank, at 374 Main Street, P.O. Box 2050, Ridgefield, CT 06877.

To the Reder family-
I am incredibly sorry to hear of your loss. Alain had actually been in communication with my business partner and I, as we own a wedding coordination business. His zest for life really came through in every email we swapped with him. You could just feel how much he loved his job and how important it was to provide a bride & groom with beautiful memories of their special day.
I truly wish there were more people in the world like Alain. Your family will be in my prayers.
