Denis Bouffard Obituary
Denis Raymond Bouffard, of Danbury, passed away at Danbury Hospital on Monday, January 2, 2017 at the age of 72, after suffering a fall at home. He was predeceased by his daughter Nicole Bouffard and his parents, Anna Pariseau and Achille Bouffard. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosemary (McNamee) and his children Joseph (Allison), Jack, Stacy Riddick (Robert), Patricia, Christopher (Jennifer), and Margaret Manning (Patrick); his thirteen grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Richard (Linda), Ronald, Paul (Sue), David (Sheryl), and sisters Diane Figlar, Joanne Cantiello (Jim), Christine Weglinski (Richard), and Maureen Sienkiewicz (Tom), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Central Falls, RI, Denis moved to Bridgeport, as a child. He graduated from Stonehill College as a seminarian for the Congregation of Holy Cross. After leaving the seminary he earned a Masters from Fordham University and pursued a teaching career. Denis taught at Immaculate High School for 34 years, spending his summers photographing weddings and traveling with his family.
Denis was a loving, patient, and faith-filled man, known for his hospitality, always happy to provide his guests with crepes and scones. He opened his home to those in need, including troubled students and a homeless family. Denis actively lived his faith as an involved member of St. Gregory's Parish and a volunteer at several local service organizations including the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen and Off The Streets. He enjoyed every moment he spent with his family and his beloved grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 6th at 11:00 .a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Thursday between the hours of 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.

Denis was my Godfather and first cousin, and whenever I think of him, I recall a picture that was taken over 50 years ago on the day I made my First Communion. It's just the two of us with him dressed in a long black gown and I in my First Communion outfit. He was standing beside me with his arm draped around my shoulder. It was a day that forever changed my life. I can still remember dreaming about growing up and marrying him some day. Such girlish dreams.
How fortunate I was to have such a God like person watching over me. Now I truly have him watching over me . . . forever, as he does each and every one of you who has touched his life.

He was my teacher. I always recall his kindness, fairness, sweet demeanor and seriousness in teaching. Rosemary & family -
We were shocked to hear of Denis passing. He was always smiling when we saw him whether it be at church, the voting table, in passing and his kindness knew no boundaries. Always anxious to take on new adventures like taking French class at Immaculate long after he had retired. His love of teaching continued with his willingness to tutor a student that needed help.
