Deolinda Sousa, 87, of Danbury, died peacefully, with her family by her side, at home, on Friday, November 21st, 2025. She was born in São Miguel, Açores, Portugal, on July 5, 1938, daughter of the late Albert and Maria Lima. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Manual; and her daughter, Natalinha Sousa.
Deolinda found joy in the simple things. She loved nurturing her garden, baking with love, sewing and catching her favorite daytime soaps. She devoted many years to caring for family and friends. She deeply loved and supported her grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Deolinda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, tia, cousin, and friend. Her family was the center of her life. She will be sadly missed by her surviving two children, Tony Sousa and his wife, Paula, and Ana Venancio and her husband, Gary; her three grandchildren, Lauren Roy (Carlos), Nicole Sousa (Pedro) and Christopher "CJ" Sousa; and 2 great-grandchildren, Hudson Roy and Lucas Cardoso.
She is also survived by her sisters, Connie Jennings, Mergie Carreira, Fernanda Marek (Bill); and her brother, Evaristo Lima; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
To honor her wishes, the family will celebrate her life with private services.
