Eva Kroyer Mannion

Eva Kroyer Mannion Eva Kroyer Mannion, age 63, wife of Arthur J. Mannion Jr. of Danbury, died at the Danbury Hospital on Thursday morning. Eva was the daughter of the late Haraldur and Ragnheidur Hallgrimsdottir Kroyer of Reykjavik, Iceland. Eva was born in Berkley, Calif., June 4, 1944, where her parents were studying at the University of California. As the daughter of a diplomat, Eva grew up in several European countries including Iceland, Sweden, Norway Denmark and France. Eva met her husband, Art, in 1965 at the Caf Select in Paris, France (where Hemingway wrote "the Sun Also Rises") when they were both students at the University of Paris. She moved to New York City in the late 1960s where she worked for many years as a draftsman and interior designer for engineering and architectural firms. The family moved to New Fairfield in 1984 where Eva became a full time Mom. After the boys went to college, Eva rejoined the work force as a sales associate at Filene's and then Macys at the Danbury Mall. In addition to her husband, Eva is survived by two sons, Daniel J. Mannion and his wife, Lori of Austin, Texas and Kenrik A. Mannion of New Milford; a granddaughter, Keira Mannion of Austin; two brothers, Johann Kroyer of Reykjavik, Iceland and Ari Kroyer of Oslo, Norway; a sister, Katrin Kroyer of Kennebunk, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Peter Church, Danbury on Monday morning, December 24, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. Contributions in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital, 24 Hospital Avenue, Danbury, CT 06810, in memory of Eva K. Mannion.
