Gunther Kroll

Gunther Kroll of New Bern, NC, formally of New Milford, CT went home to his Lord and Savior on March 10, 2012 at the age of 77. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Ellen (Ryan) Kroll. Mr. Kroll was born to Otto and Charlotte (Zimmerman) Kroll on October 22,1934 in Union City, NJ. He graduated from Emerson High School in 1954 and was inducted into the Emerson Hall of Fame in 1999 for his outstanding football achievements. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Corporal on the USS Intrepid. He was one of ten Marines chosen to be in attendance at Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly's wedding. Mr. Kroll was also a volunteer fireman in Mamaroneck, NY. After thirty years of service, Mr. Kroll retired from Con Edison. His joy in life came from loving his family. He is survived by two daughters, Peg Baxter and her husband Ken of New Milford and Susan Kachur and her husband Jim of New Bern, NC; five grandchildren, Kate, Brian, Rebecca, Jessica and Stephen; and one brother, Richard Kroll of Cedar Grove, NJ. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gerhardt Kroll and Robert Kroll. Private services will take place at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT. Burial will follow at the Center Cemetery, New Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
