Herbert Rosenblatt Obituary

Herbert Rosenblatt
Herbert Rosenblatt, 96, of Brookfield, CT, passed away after a short illness at home on September 9th, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Jane Rosenblatt (Solomon). He was born on September 3, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Israel and Alice Rosenblatt. He grew up in Brooklyn and served his country during WWII as a tank driver in Germany. After the war, he received his degree in Chemical Engineering from City College of NY. He had a long and successful career with Allied Chemical Company and Witco Corporation. He also taught polymer science at Penn State University. His greatest love was his family, followed by his love of education, science, and Israel. He was predeceased by his brother, Howard Rosenblatt.
He is survived by his children, Gregory (Shira) Rosenblatt of Cheshire, CT, and Beverly (Warren) Rokes of Andover, VT. He particularly treasured his grandchildren, Sharon Rosenblatt (Adam Bovilsky), Karen Rosenblatt (Aldo Garcia), Alanna Rosenblatt, Rachel Rokes, and Alecia Rokes (Brian Gourlay); and great-grandson, Eli Bovilsky. He is also survived by his sister in-law, Dolores; and loving nieces and nephews. He was blessed to have, in his later years, the friendship and companionship of Marilyn Lieff. The family would like to extend many thanks to Regional Hospice of Western CT and Visiting Angels.
A Private Funeral Service will be held in New Jersey. Shiva will be observed at the home of Shira and Greg Rosenblatt Tuesday-Thursday night from 6-8 pm and at the home of Beverly and Warren Rokes on Saturday night. The Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, New Haven, is in care of Arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Regional Hospice of Western CT and to the Jewish National Fund (JNF). I used to play tennis with Herb, and although he was about 70 years older than me, he'd beat me every single time. I'm not even kidding.

I was almost in tears reading this. He was such a great man and he will be missed. May he rest in peace. Z''l.

I was so sorry to learn of Herb's passing. May his memory be a blessing.
As you know, Herb was an important and much loved member of Temple Sholom in New Milford. He taught in our religious school for many years and was regular at services.

A true mensch and adored by the children at Temple Sholom who were fortunate to have studied Hebrew with him. The world has lost a lovely man.
