Jeanne Harker Obituary

Jeanne Shumway Harker Jeanne Shumway Harker passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008. She was born in Evanston, Ill, May 12, 1917. She is survived by five children, Mollie Harker of Guadalajara, Mexico, John Harker of Holyoke, Mass., Patsy Rupp of Norwalk, Jennie Torres of New Milford and Jim Harker of New York City; and her brother, Jack Shumway of Dallas, Texas. Her husband, Herbert Weese Harker and her eldest daughter, Jill Harker, precede her in death. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jeanne graduated with a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. Jimmie, as she was known to many, was an active member of the Episcopal Church, serving as the organist for St. Thomas in Neenah, Wis., on the altar guild at St. Luke's in Darien and in a variety of roles at St. John's Episcopal Church in New Milford. She will be missed by all who knew her for her style, grace, and love of life. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in New Milford, Wednesday (TODAY), May 28, 2008 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember her may make donations to the St. John's Episcopal Church General Fund.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this wonderful family. Jimmy was a lovely lady with a great sense of humor. She was a huge help to me when I worked in the office at St. John's. I will miss her!
