John D. Pfingsten
1953-2025
John David Pfingsten, 72, of New Milford, twin brother of Nancy Metzger of Newtown, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
In addition to his twin sister Nancy and her husband Dr. Jeffrey Metzger, he is survived by two nieces, Alison Decker and her husband Andrew and their children Jackson and Payton and Dana Metzger and her husband Jimmy Brunette and their children Jimmy Jr. and Jimiyah.
John grew up in Simsbury, CT and was a proud member of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Department. Serving in the Navy was John's highest honor.
We are especially grateful to Candlewood Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center for their excellent care. Also a special thank you to VA Liason Rebecca Cordero, RN. Her unwavering support and advocacy was immeasurable.
Private funeral services and burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. There will be no calling hours.
Contributions in John's memory may be made to Regional Hospice, 30 Milestone Road Danbury, CT 06810.

John we may have no known each other but we share a common bond we are both US NAVY veterans and I also belong to the fire service as I am a member of Harwinton West Side Fire department. As 1 sailor to another I would like to let you know that you stand properly relieved of duty, We have the watch from here, May you have Fair Winds and a Smooth following. RIP. as Our Navy would like to ad our condolences to your family.
