NORWALK — John G. "Jack" Weisenberger, 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Friday evening, December 5, 2014 in Sandusky, Ohio, surrounded by his family.
He was born January 5, 1936 in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Gilbert F. and Marie E. (Culley) Weisenberger and was a lifelong area resident.
Jack was a 1954 graduate of St. Paul High School where he was the Secretary /Treasurer of the Alumni Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served overseas in France. Jack was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was the statistician of St. Paul High School football and the official scorer of St. Paul High School boys and girls basketball for many years. Jack was also a member of the St. Paul High School Boosters, he was inducted in the 2014 St. Paul Hall of Fame, and was a life member of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion. He retired in 2006 from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a former employee of Bell Dairy, and WLKR radio.
Jack is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth A. (Schaffer) Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio, by his sons and daughters in law, David and Amy Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio, Marc and LaDona Weisenberger of Bellevue, Ohio, and Eric and Denise Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio, and by four grandchildren, Courtney and Drew Hipp, Jacqueline, Austin and Kristen Weisenberger. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law, Michael and Theresa Weisenberger of Worthington, Ohio, and by his sisters and brothers in law, Marjean and Don Hohler of Norwalk, Ohio, Mary Caponi of Sandusky, Ohio, Janet and Chandos Gose of Norwalk, Ohio, and Margaret Weisenberger of Norwalk, Ohio.
Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Weisenberger in 2007 and his stepmother, the late Leona (Hipp) Hackett Weisenberger in 2004.
Friends may call on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Father Gary Walters will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Paul Catholic Church Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion.
