Jon VanHise Obituary

Jon Van Hise
Jon Archie Van Hise, of Brookfield, CT, passed away after a brief illness on September 24, 2023.
Jon was born to Archie and Janet Van Hise in Boston, Massachusetts. He received a scholarship to MIT and continued his education at the University of Bridgeport finishing with a master's degree from Columbia University. He married Maureen Van Hise in Stratford, CT and they spent the rest of their lives together.
Jon had a long and successful career including 37 years working at IBM. After retiring he got his real estate license and worked side by side with his wife. Jon also dedicated himself to the town he lived in as the longtime Chairman of the Planning Commission in Brookfield. In his free time, Jon was a golfer and a lifelong Red Sox fan.
Jon was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife Maureen and his sister Janet Horton Van Hise. He is also survived by five children, Daniel, Laura, David, Christian, and Jennifer Van Hise. In death, he will be reunited with his daughter Holly who passed before him. Finally, Jon was blessed to have 14 grandchildren and recently celebrated the birth of his first great-grandchild.
There will be a visitation for Jon on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home, Danbury, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 8 Robinson Ave., Danbury, CT 06810. A burial will follow at Brookfield Center Cemetery, Brookfield, CT 06804.
