Joseph Stenza Obituary

Joseph Phillip Stenza
Joseph Phillip Stenza, 85, husband and best friend of Catherine (Francia) Stenza for 62 years, passed away Friday, May 26, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Ridgefield, CT, until his retirement and then in Naples, FL, for the next 25 years. He and his wife had recently moved to South Windsor, CT. A 4th degree Knight of Columbus, he was a eucharistic minister at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Ridgefield and St. William Catholic Church in Naples. In retirement, he served as a volunteer in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Fondly known as Granddad, he was a truly special person, always willing to lend a helping hand. In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughters, Lisa Catanese and her husband Paul of Coventry, CT, and Gina Pin and her husband Marc of Newtown, CT; his daughter-in-law, Ellen Stenza of Naples, FL; grandchildren Kristina (Chris), Michael, Andrew, Dan (Kelly), Catherine (Evan), Allison, and Joseph Aaron; and great-grandchildren Amelia, Benjamin, Maxwell, and Nathan. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Joseph Charles, whom he now joins in heaven. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Ridgefield, on Saturday, June 3, at 10am, with interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066, or The Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org . Dear Cathy, Please accept our deepest sympathy to you and your family on Joe's recent passing. (Just got word yesterday). We will always remember the joy & fun we had together on our 50th Anniversary Cruise.

We are also so sorry that the past few years were so difficult for you both, definitely Hurricane Ian was the kicker. Thankfully, you had almost 63 years of a wonderful marriage together. We are grateful for the years you spent in Naples, as our friends.

God bless you both. Try to stay healthy for your girls & grandchildren.

Love,
Don & Jane Campbell

We are so sorry about the passing of Joe. He was a wonderful person. I remember what a great time we had in Italy in September 2000. May you rest in peace with Our Lord and Our Blessed Mother.
