Judith Batewell Obituary

Judith Moore Batewell
November 30, 2021
Judith Moore Batewell died peacefully on November 30 in Ft. Mill, SC where she had recently moved with her husband Charles Batewell. Judy was born in Danbury, CT on May 27, 1940 to John and Marian (Jepsen) Russo. She was the younger sister of Donald and Alan who are also deceased. She was very proud of her Danbury roots and graduated from Danbury High School in 1958. She held a variety of office manager positions but she was most proud of her long history of volunteering for Hospice and the Red Cross.
Judy is survived by her husband of 41 years, her sister in law Violette Russo of Truckee, California and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was especially close to her niece Eileen Russo of Oakville, Ct. She leaves behind her close friend of 61 years, Mary Obre of Newtown and many family friends.. She is survived by her children, Deb (Anthony) Abner, Kevin (Sue) Moore, James (Julie) Moore, Terri (Joe) Batewell, Kevin (Shereen) Batewell and Tom (Kelly) Batewell. She was delighted by her 10 grandchildren.
She had a wonderful group of friends and she enjoyed traveling following her retirement. Her recent days were made more pleasurable by Jenny Bergeron and we are all grateful for Jenny's friendship and devotion over the past three years. The family also appreciates the care she received from Dr. Irene Moreira.
If you knew Judy you know that she was a woman of strong opinions and loved a good party. To honor her wishes we would ask that gifts be made in her memory to the Danbury Library, Regional Hospice of Danbury and Providence Care Services, Ft.Mill, SC . Services will be held at a later date.

Charlie and Children,

Betty and I were very sad to hear of Judy's passing. I will miss seeing the two of you on Seneca as I used to walking Maddie or Fenway or even waving while driving by. How fortunate it was that our daughter, Michele, lived just a few houses from you.
We first met Judy as neighbors on Housman Street and enjoyed her company and thoughtful hospitality .
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To all of Judy's family, so sorry for your loss. She was a special friend to my mom for many years. Judy was rooted in Danbury and I so remember when the bank and police station was bombed, I was at Saint Peters School and we evacuated to Rogers Park. Well I get there and there she is, and said come to my house, which was just around the corner. She tried to phone Genungs where my mom worked and was finally successful getting a meesage to her explaining I was ok. Judy put on a spread and I was treated like a King, and that was Judy.....God Bless you and thanks for being my moms "listener" for all those years....
