Nick Selva Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gnanapragasam Nicholas Selventhiran, fondly known as Indiran or Nick, on September 15, 2025. Born on August 11, 1952, in Mirusuvil, Sri Lanka, Indiran was the youngest of six children to Gabrielpillai Alagakone Gnanaprasam and Mariapillai. A bright and fun-loving child, he excelled in academics and cherished his Tamil Catholic upbringing.
In 1978, Indiran moved to the UK to pursue engineering at Middlesex University, where his keen intellect and love for learning flourished. On August 27, 1988, he married Terrencia in Connecticut, USA. Together, they built a loving home and were blessed with their daughter, Sharlini, born in 1989. Indiran worked as an engineer at IBM, where he earned patents for his innovative work.
Despite facing health challenges, including heart disease at age 37, Indiran remained a positive and generous presence. He was deeply devoted to his family, faith, and community, always ready to help others. His kindness, humor, and wisdom touched everyone who knew him.
Indiran spent his later years in Danbury, Connecticut, cherishing time with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, Tyler. His unwavering faith and love for life inspired all around him. Indiran leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Indiran. You will forever remain in our hearts.
Relatives and friends my visit with the family on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 4-7 PM at New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, CT 06053. A Mass of christian burial will be on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 10:30 AM at St. Maurice Church,100 Wightman Rd., New Britain, everyone is asked to meet directly at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
