Peter L. Blackman, 74, died December 4, 2022, at his home in Bakersville, NC. Peter was born in Danbury, CT on November 8, 1948 to Dwight and Ruth Blackman. He was also preceded by his sister, Ruth Ann Kelsey (Blackman).
He is survived by his wife Eileen (Darcy), daughter Karen Gibb (Robert) of New Milford, CT; brother David Blackman of Gaylordsville, CT; grandsons Scott Wasylean of Spruce Pine, NC and Shawn Freundt of New Milford, CT; great-granddaughter Gemma Grace, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Peter was an U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran stationed in Danang and was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. He retired from Kimberly-Clark New Milford, CT after 28 years.
Peter, with his brother David were Blackman Brothers Racing and spent many years racing stockcars at Danbury Race Arena in Danbury, CT and Bethel Motor Speedway, Sullivan County, NY. Peter spent his retirement watching racing, doing Sudoku or a crossword and meeting new friends in his new home town.
Per Peter's request, there will be no services.

Eileen & Loved Ones, Pete & I met back in First Grade at Beaver Brook School, and I always considered him to be one of my Very Best Friends, all these years.
We spent many hours, in our youth, playing Cowboys & Indians together at his parents' house. Each claiming to be the faster draw with our Fanner 50 six guns.
He and Dave inherited their father's sense of humor and were always good for a laugh and smile whenever you were around them.
Unfortunately, life kept us from remaining close, especially after Pete & Eileen moved to North Carolina. The last time I saw Pete was at Dave's house in Gaylordsville , CT., when he was up for a visit in 2016. I had been looking forward to seeing him again the next time he came to visit, but again life got into the way of that.
My prayers go out to you and his Loved Ones, along with my deepest condolences.

I knew Peter when we were kids in Danbury. I always got a kick out of his sense of humor. I also was friends with his brother Dave. So sorry to hear of his passing.
