William Gerard McNulty
William "Mac" Gerard McNulty of New Fairfield, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 70 years old.
Born on February 18, 1951, in New York City, son of the late Mary (Foley) McNulty and William Francis McNulty, Bill attended Bishop Dubois High School as well as Manhattan College receiving a bachelor's degree, and Fordham University receiving his master's degree.
On June 15, 1974, he married the love of his life and BFF, Cathy Thompson, in the Bronx at St. Mary's Star of the Sea. They started their journey together in Yonkers before moving to Connecticut to raise a family.
Bill worked in sales for General Foods, Gaines and Kraft for over 30 years. He was an active member of St. Edwards the Confessor Church Council and was also a pillar of the Jaycees in New Fairfield for over 30 years, receiving The Senator Award (the organization's highest honor), organizing the Special Olympics, and managing the softball team. He loved golf, playing every week with the same group of friends, and on Hilton Head Island's courses when visiting his South Carolina beach house.
Bill was a beloved husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife Cathy, and three children: Daniel McNulty and his wife, Christine, of Gainesville, VA, Meghan Saffi and her husband, Robert, of Wilton, CT, and Matthew McNulty and his wife, Sarina, of Ridgefield, CT. His seven grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he always had a game or activity planned for them when they visited. He is also survived by his brother Tom McNulty and his wife, Nora, of The Villages, FL, and his sister Marie Muranelli and her husband, Joel, of Ossining, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Road in New Fairfield, CT. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, also in New Fairfield.
