David A. Nave Sr., 73, of Peru passed away February 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 5:00 PM Sunday at the First Congregational Church of Peru with Rev. Mark Harder officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Sunday from 4:00 PM until time of services. At approximately 5:30 PM, full military services will be conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Nave was born in Springfield on August 12, 1950 to James "Pete" A. and Geraldine "Jean" (Pape) Nave Jr. He served in the United States Army Reserves for several years. He was a business owner and manager of several local restaurants including Golden Corral in Dixon. He married Lolita Mahipus on May 15, 2015 in the Philippines where they resided for years. He loved spending time cooking for his family. He also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He also coached his children in sports for many years.
Mr. Nave is survived by his wife Lolita of Peru; nine children David (Shannon) Nave Jr. of Dixon, Steven (Elyse) Nave of Dixon, Jeanette (Aaron) Walter of Dixon, Sean (Lindsay) Nave of Dixon, Brandon Winters of Dixon, David Nave III of Peru, and Kristina Pang of CA, and Toni, and Marianne from a previous marriage; four stepchildren Roviruzzel Lyne, Ronnie Lizzel, Ralph Luis, and Yurika Gomez; several nieces and nephews; ten grandchildren Ashley, Chasity, Hannah, Katie, Isiah, Stephanie, Jaron, Quintin, Ariella, and Hudson; step grandchildren Sabin, Rylie, Kaidin, Christopher, Brittany, Stacia, Olivia, Torey, Julie, Kortny, James, Jacob, Astrid, and Ludwig; great grandchildren Mackenna, Grayson, Shealynn, Leighton, Tavian, Caylee, Payton, Paxton, Bennett, and Bodie; and five siblings Virgil (Dalia) Nave of La Salle, Dale (Teresa) Nave Sr. of Bureau Junction, Karen (Dale) Ammons of Dalzell, Johnie (Nida) Nave of Utica, and James (Wanda) Nave of Corning, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Joan Ann Nave, and one nephew Eric Bernabei.
