Died: January 10, 2022 in Peru, IL
Dennis Anthony Maggio, 45, of Peru passed away peacefully on January 10, 2022 after a long illness at St. Margaret's Health in Peru.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in La Salle has been entrusted with his arrangements.
Dennis was born in Peru on February 3, 1976 to Dennis and Sharon (Konczak) Maggio. He worked as a middle school math teacher. He taught for 17 years in San Antonio, TX and a couple years in Alaska and West Virginia. He was an extremely dedicated teacher and loved to teach. His students were very important. Though he taught math, he was also very interested in history. He enjoyed reading history books. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan.
Dennis is survived by his son Carter Maggio of San Antontio, TX; his parents Dennis and Sharon Maggio of Peru; two brothers Michael (Katie) Maggio of La Salle and Jason (Kandi) Maggio of Cuba, IL; one sister Lisa (William) Mabry; nine nieces and nephews; his uncle Ron Konczak; and his K9 companion Sam.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to his family or IVAR (Illinois Valley Animal Rescue).

I have been thinking of Dennis since I heard this news. Many many memories with him as a classmate and friend at LaSalle Catholic. Basketball games, hanging out with our group of friends trying to escape trouble. Lots of good times and great memories. Rest In Peace friend.
