Florence Schuler Obituary

Florence 'Flo' Basil Schuler
Born: April 19, 1947
Died: November 14, 2025
Florence "Flo" Basil Schuler of Warsaw, Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 78.
She was born on April 19, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, the only child of Dolores Josephine (Cole) Basil and Peter James Basil (nee Baziluk). Flo graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, with high honors. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Illinois, Chicago, in 1969. Flo enjoyed teaching English at Chicago Vocational School in Chicago, Illinois, for a number of years prior to her marriage.
Flo married the love of her life, Dr. William Eliot Schuler, on October 1, 1977. They were blessed to have just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary before she passed away. They resided in Mendota, Illinois, where they helped to found New Covenant Assembly of God. In 1998, they moved to Warsaw. Together, they enjoyed worshipping alongside their church family at Abundant Life Assembly of God in Warsaw.
Flo spent many years homeschooling her children and mentoring others. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a meal, encouragement, or prayer. Over the years, she taught children's church and hosted many events for church youth. She was a leader in La Leche League and in New Beginnings Food Co-Op, and she was a multi-state director for Community Bible Study. She continued to mentor teachers for Community Bible Study until just weeks before her passing.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dr. William E. Schuler (Warsaw, IN); four sons, Stephen (Grace) Schuler (Springfield, OH); Mark (Allison) Schuler (Southeast Asia); John (Alexandria) Schuler (New Lenox, IL); and Daniel (Julie) Schuler (Columbia City, IN). Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Samuel Joseph Schuler and her grandson, Jack William Schuler.
Flo's life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Faith Assembly of God, 800 Wenzel Road, Peru, Illinois, and officiated by Pastor Steve Adamson. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana.
Private burial will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 1121 North Galena Avenue, Dixon, Illinois. Arrangements entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Prayers and condolences are sent to Dr. Schuler and family from the Columbia City Community Bible Study. She was the "Mother" that started this wonderful group of women who love and serve God. She mentored and modeled the true Christian life. As one of the first ladies to join, I will miss her smile and loving spirit. She is dancing and singing in heaven.

My deepest, heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Schuler and family. I can't imagine the hole in your hearts missing her but I also know she will be waiting in heaven for her family when their time comes. I can remember visiting with her watching baseball games by the pool. She always had such a genuine smile on her face. She was always kind, understanding, and never critical or mean spirited.
