George W. Schweickert, 87, of LaSalle, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at St. Joseph's Church, Peru with J.A.Small officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Webster Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Mr. Schweickert was born on April 17, 1934 in LaSalle to Cletus and Marie (Prygzoda) Schweickert. He married Shirley May Thompson on September 6, 1969 at St. Joseph's Church in Peru.
Mr. Schweickert was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Peru and he was a board member of the Peru Eagles. He was a machine operator for Westclox and later on Caterpillar. Mr. Schweickert enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, and was an avid eucher player.
Survivors include one daughter, Carrie (Steve) Margis of LaSalle; four grandchildren, Thomas Snell, Jessica Snell, George Schweickert, and Christina Manion; and seven great-grandchildren, including Rory Snell and Ryker Oscepinski; siblings, Jeanette (Wayne) Gibson, Lorrayne (Hank) Vaughn, Lois (Ken) Thomas, Carol (Ben) Clay, David (Jackie) Schweickert, Richard Schweickert, and Michael (Nadine) Schweickert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley on February 19, 2017; three sisters, Mary Lou Mazzorana, JoAnn Kelly, and Judith Gorgal; and four brothers, Cletus, Robert, Thomas, and Ronald Schweickert.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Snell, Ryan Margis, Luke Schweickert, Mike Schweickert, Glen Kupperschmid, and Michelle Scott.
