Graham D. Thorpe, 63 of Oglesby died at 9:45 a.m. September 5, 2023 in his home surrounded by family.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be at a later date. The Shields Funeral Chapel, Oglesby is in charge of arrangements.
Graham was born August 7, 1960 in Australia. He married Sheila McGeorge November 12, 2010.
He worked for Midwest Trucking and later at McDonald's in Oglesby where he truly loved the people he worked with and rolled the fattest burritos. He truly loved life and was the most positive, energetic person. He loved his family and friends so much. He thought the world of all of his children and grandchildren no matter what distance there was between them.
He enjoyed having family and friends over for cookouts, he loved cooking on the grill. He was the Grill Master! He enjoyed playing cards and board games all the time. He left a lasting impression on anyone and everyone who had ever met him. Not only with his big personality but also his thick Australian accent.
He was the biggest AC/DC and 49ers fan you could've ever met. So every time you hear Jailbreak, think of Graham.
But most of all he loved relaxing outside enjoying nature with family pointing out all the hummingbirds that came by. He was an Aussie through and through but he always said he had to come to America to meet his Sheila.
He is survived by his wife Sheila of Oglesby, 2 sons; Ashley and Corey Thorpe both of Australia, 2 daughters; Sharon and Michelle Thorpe both of Australia, a stepson Alex Szewczyk of Oglesby and 5 beautiful grandchildren his best friends Jill and Leo Reasor of Troy Grove and his best furry feline friend Rebel.
