Helen M. Carlson, 101, of Peru, (formerly of McNabb) passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Liberty Village Hawthorne Inn, Peru.
There will be a private service held for the family. Pastor Bob Kinas will officiate. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery II, Varna.
Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
Helen was born on September 25, 1920 in Varna to Frank and Ada (Flesburg) Peterson. She married Carl "Kelly" J. Carlson on February 20, 1941 in Varna.
She worked at the clothing factory in Toluca before she was married. After she married "Kelly" she was his secretary for his business. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in McNabb. Helen loved playing golf and was on the ladies league at Edgewood Golf Course. She also loved playing cards especially bridge.
Survivors include her husband, "Kelly" "C.J." Carlson of Peru; two sons, Donald (Patty) Carlson of Villages, FL and Philip (Sherrie) Carlson of Granville; one daughter, Christine (Vaun) Meinhold of Streator; daughter-in-law, Kalynn Carlson of Aurora; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Carlson; one brother, Carl Peterson; three sisters, Viola Stiles, Dorothy Spear and Virginia Holz and one grandchild, Angela Carlson.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Dean Carlson, Dawn Williams, Wendy Harris, Melanie Hundley, Krista Carlson, Tyson Meinhold, Lance Meinhold, Brian Carlson, Tim Carlson and Brett Carlson.
Memorials may be made to Emmaus Lutheran Church, McNabb.
