Joseph M. "Joe" Clancy 85 of Peru passed away October 31, 2023.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 PM Monday November 6, 2023, in St. Valentine church in Peru. The Rev. Ronald Margherio OSB will officiate. Private Burial will be later in St. Vincent Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 9:00-11:45 AM in St. Valentine Church. Cremation rites will follow the services. Ptak Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Joe was born October 18, 1938, in Kansas City, Kansas to Joseph and Martina (Miller) Clancy. He married Linda Fitzke in 1959 and had 4 children Colleen, Joey, Mary Chris and Cathy. He later married Mary Nagle March 25, 1978, in Peru. Joe owned and operated M&M News for over 50 years. He coached basketball at St Joseph, Peru Catholic, St Patrick's and St. Bede Academy. Joe, along with Mary, was Co-Chair of the 2nd Annual St Bede Auction. He was a Board member and past president of Deer Park Country Club. He was a supporter of the Horizon House.
Joe is survived by his friend Elaine Hill, daughters Colleen (Bill) Judge of Peru, Mary Chris Clancy, Cathy (Roger) Doyle of Granville. Sons Joe (Missy) Clancy of Peru, Scott Stoudt of Dwight and Chris (Alisa) Clancy of Frankfort, IL., Grandchildren Gabrielle Teising, Taleah Smith, Blake Doyle, Samantha Judge and Liam Clancy and 8 Great Grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, and his brother Tom Clancy.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to St. Bede Academy Memorial Endowment.
