Princeton - Loren Robert Cook, fondly known as "Cookie," passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from a long, hard fought battle with cancer. He was born on February 26, 1949, to the late LeRoy and Betty Nelson Cook. He grew up in Tiskilwa, Illinois, and graduated as part of the Tiskilwa Indians High School Class of 1967.
Cookie married the love of his life, Brenda Hall, on March 31, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They celebrated their union with a two-week honeymoon in California, where they visited family and created lifelong memories.
For over 40 years, Loren worked at the Steel mill in Hennepin, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. Outside of work, he pursued his passion for motocross racing as a proud member of both the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and District 17.
An adventurer at heart, Loren loved spending time in nature and took great joy in passing down his knowledge of the country lifestyle to his beloved granddaughter, Jocelyn, affectionately called "Frog." He also cherished traveling, especially his trips to Alabama to visit his children and grandchildren, and his day outings with his good friend George Hegland.
One of his favorite memories was a trip to Sweden with his sister Pam, where they connected with their family's heritage. Loren had a great love for target shooting and enjoyed time spent with friends and family.
Loren's deep love for his family, friends, and the simple joys of life will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Surviving his wife Brenda Cook of Princeton, IL; daughter Jennifer (Matt) Long of Woodville, AL, Jenna (Troy) Hodapp of Princeton, IL and son Brian (Amy) Cook of Woodville, AL; five grandchildren, Keagan (Amanda) Murphy, Korey (Allisa) Murphy and Jocelyn Nordstrom of Princeton, IL, Layton Hodapp and Alec Hodapp both of Princeton, IL; six great grandchildren; two brothers Arlyn (Cherryl) Cook of Alta Loma, CA, Stephen Cook of Tiskilwa, IL, sister Pamela (Dave) Cain of Flagstaff, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by his parents, LeRoy and Betty Cook.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on October 11, 2024 at Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. & Monuments from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm with Eldon Cook offering words of comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
