Mark P. Lane
Born: November 24, 1954 in Mendota, IL
Died: December 23, 2025 in Earlville, IL
With great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our husband, dad, grandpa, papa, and great grandpa, Mark Lane on December 23,2025 at the age of 71.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30 from 3-6pm at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Earlville. Mass of Christian Burial will be December 31 at 11am in St. Theresa's with Rev. Joseph Domfe officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after services and burial of ashes will be at a later date. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.
Mark was the youngest of 6, born on November 24,1954 in Mendota to Thomas P. and Elizabeth (Lonie) Lane. Just think how excited those 4 older sisters and older brother were for a new little brother.
A 1972 graduate of Earlville High School, he was united in marriage to Teresa Reeser on October 15,1977 in Sublette. In October they celebrated 48 years of marriage. Marks work career began at an early age, gathering eggs at the family farm through Strong and Strong Feed Co. in Earlville. Can you imagine gathering eggs from thousands of chickens more than once a day?! He soon found this wasn't his life's calling. Through the years Marks employment took him through the Village of Troy Grove, from Manley Bros. to Farm Supply, and the Troy Grove Coop and Grain where he formed a lasting bond and friendship with Penny McLaughlin and Henry Kilbilka. His final place of employment was Phalen Steel in Mendota, retiring in February of 2020.
Mark was actively involved in youth sports, having coached Little League, Mendota Junior Tackle, Mendota Youth Wrestling and Girls Softball. He also served on the Mendota Little League Board. The past couple of years he enjoyed his senior golf league on Friday mornings in Earlville. But the last few years he and Teresa were the biggest supporters of their grandkids and their sporting events and school programs. Vacations and Dr. appointments were all scheduled around athletic events from football, wrestling, track and baseball. Keep being aggressive boys-Grandpa is still watching. Probably from a cushy front row seat. He will always be your biggest supporter.
Mark will be dearly missed by: his wife Teresa of Earlville, sons: Tom (Kelly) Lane of Mendota, Joe (Barb) Lane of Elgin, 7 grandchildren: Lauryn (Tyler) Henson of Dixon, Reese and Greyson Lane of Mendota, Avery, Ryan and Wyatt Lane of Elgin, great granddaughter Elyse Henson of Dixon, 3 sisters: Patricia (Denny) Flaherty of Davenport, IA., Paula (Don) Jones of Davenport, IA., Loretta (Ed) McConville of Greer, SC, brother-in-law Terry Doty of LaSalle, and his 3 grand dogs: Duke, Rally and Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Doty, and brother Ben Lane. Memorials may be directed to Donors Choice or To the Family. Condolences may be left at

Fly high Mark.
