Born: July 21, 1925; Wenona

Died: December 14, 2020; Peru

PERU – Mary Elizbeth Gualandi, 95, formerly of Cedar Point, IL, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 in Heritage Healthcare Center in Peru, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020 in the Sacred HeartCatholic Cemetery in Granville. Father Patrick DeMeulemeester will officiate.There will be no visitation, but all are invited to the graveside services. In accordance with CDC regulations, face masks and social distancing should be practiced. The Helmer-Shields Funeral Home in Granville is assisting the familywith arrangements.

Mary was born on July 21, 1925 in rural Wenona to Thomas J. and Annette (Thurston) Brennan. She attended a one-room rural grade school, and graduated from Wenona High School.

Mary married Delmo Gualandi on September 5, 1945 at St Mary's Church in Wenona, Il. Mary was a homemaker, mom and in later years, Dad' s farming partner. She attended St.Theresa Catholic Church in Cedar Point until 1993 when it closed. She taught CCD for over 35 years. After St. Theresa's, the familyjoined Sacred Heart Churchin Granville and then St. Pat's in Hennepin, where she played organ for 9:00 a.m. Mass for years. She served as an election judge for Eden 2 at Cedar Point for 40 years. In 2004, she received the Pere Jaques Marquette Award from the Peoria Diocese for recognition of service to the church beyond the call of duty. She also received the Putnam County Western Illinois Gallery Of Ageless Achievers Award for service to the church and community. She was also a member of the Putnam County Senior Center for years. She served in the center's site council as secretary and president.

Mary is survived by her children, Marjorie (James) Pelszynski of Peru, Thomas (Regina)Gualandi of Utica, Il, Daniel Gualandi of Peru, Il, Nancy (Marvin) Miller of Tonica, and Cynthia (Jim Gossen) Cohrs of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delmo Gualandi in 2007; sisters, Francis Divora, Loretta Katchmar, and Virginia Ponsetto; brothers, RobertBrennen and Timothy Brennen; and her daughter-in-law, Debbie.

Memorials may be made to the Putnam County Senior Center at 128 First Street Standard, IL 61363.
