Mary Kathleen (Seckler) Shawback, 71, of Lostant, formerly of Washburn, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at The Loft Rehabilitation & Nursing, Eureka.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Lostant. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Lostant at a later date. Visitation will be held 4-7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Mary was born September 17, 1950 in Cazenovia to Everett and Mildred (Donohue) Seckler. She was married to Joseph May for 29 years and together they had six children. She later married Dale Shawback on September 27, 2002 in Eureka. He passed away on February 21, 2012.
Mary worked as a homemaker for over 20 years before working as a packer/sorter at Bernardi/Windsor/Ajinomoto Foods for over 20 years. She retired in 2014.
Mary passed on her love for her children and family just as her loving mother showed her the way. She loved gardening and making her yard beautiful with flowers. Mary was an amazing cook and baker. She was well known for her "oatmeal carmalitas", a favorite of her coworkers. Mary also enjoyed puzzles, reading, sewing, crafts and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her six children, Eric (Kati) May of Chillicothe, Heidi (Gene) Rowland of Minonk, Jason May of Eureka, Nathan (Tina) May of Bartonville, Valarie Mendez of Washington and Amber (William) Stephenson of Tampico; three step-children, Jason (Amy) Shawback of Tonica, Elizabeth Shawback of Lostant and Jillian (Willis) McCoy of Oglesby; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and four sisters, Candace Miller, Edna Marchard, Theresa Seckler and Jean Stivers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; six brothers and a sister, Lois Seckler.
