Patricia A. (Frizol) Bieser
Born: April 15, 1927 in Peru, IL
Died: August 17, 2021 in Mendota, IL
Patricia A. (Frizol) Bieser, 94 of Mendota passed away at Heritage Health, Mendota on Tuesday August 17, 2021.
Pat was born in Peru at People's Hospital on April 15, 1927 to Victor and Thelma (Magoonaugh) Frizol. She attended Roosevelt and St. Joseph's schools in Peru before the family moved to Compton, and she
attended school in West Brooklyn. The family then moved to Mendota, where she finished grade school and graduated from Mendota Township High School in 1945. Shortly after graduation, she auditioned for a position in a USO show. She was one of nine women from La Salle County who were accepted. The women traveled to New York City for rehearsal for a musical comedy, "Irene." They traveled and toured in Germany and
Austria, presenting "Irene" to post WWII occupying troops in the European Theater. She attended several sessions of the Nuremburg Nazi criminal war trials.
After returning to Mendota, she married Donald Bieser on March 31, 1948 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota, and they raised 6 children on the farm north of Mendota.
Pat and Don were members of St. John's Lutheran Church. Pat was very involved in several circles and the quilting group. She was also involved in the VFW Auxiliary to Post #4079 and was president for 2 years. She was also County Council President and Asst. VAVS representative to the La Salle Veteran's
Home.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband in 2013; her daughter, Jan, in 2011; and a grandson, Kyle Lindenmier in 1983.
She is survived by her brother James Frizol; and sister Nancy (Gary) Possley. She is also survived by her children, Jeri (Sam) Surovy of Danbury, CT., Linda (Larry) Lindenmier of West Brooklyn, Sarah (Vern) Pfeifer of Paw Paw, Dennis (Deborah) Bieser of Mendota and Joanne (Lou) Lentz of Oakwood Hills; eight grandchildren, Sammy Surovy, Jr, Amanda (Matt) Mertz, Nick (Kayla) Bieser, Pete (Karen) Bieser, Dustin (Amanda) Bieser, Averi (Matt) Richmond, Jamie Lentz and Tyler Lentz; and seven
great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alex Mertz, Sadie and Odin Bieser, Sullivan and Elodie Bieser and Holden Bieser.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ken Gibson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Following interment at Restland Cemetery, Mendota, the family will host a dinner at the VFW Hall at 610 6th St. Mendota. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.
Memorials may be directed to the USO, St. John's Quilting Ministry or VFW #4079 Auxiliary.
