Peter Turchi, 92, of rural Spring Valley, passed away at his home on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
The funeral service for Peter will begin at Noon, on Monday, February 13, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Deacon John Murphy will officiate. A memorial visitation for Peter will be held from 11:00 AM until time of funeral services, Monday, at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.
Peter was born on May 17, 1930 in Spring Valley to Peter and Josephine (Smoode) Turchi. He married Shirley Richardson on January 5, 1957 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Spring Valley.
Peter retired from Illinois Valley Community College in 2009, where he had worked as a security guard. He had also been employed in shipping and receiving at Westclox. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in Korea from 1951-1953. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the American Legion, and V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, of Spring Valley; his son, Anton "Tony" (Michelle) Turchi of Kewanee; his daughter, Renee (Mike) Ziebell of Spring Valley; three grandchildren, Rachel (Leslie) Miller of Bridgeport, TX, Brendan Ziebell of Spring Valley, and Arianna Ziebell of Columbus, OH; and six great grandchildren, Tegan and Harley Ralston, Landon and Leighton Miller, and Jax and Jett Pryor.
