Died: August 12, 2024 in Peoria, Illinois
Scott E. Wiedman age 84 of Henry, Illinois went to meet the Lord on August 12, 2024. He was a resident of the Henry area all his life.
Born August 26, 1939 in Henry, Illinois at the Henry Hospital to Edwin Albert and Catherine (Wasner) Wiedman, he married Elizabeth (Sue) Petefish on December 23 1962. They were married for 47 years til her death in 2009. They had three children. One son Brett (Jodi) Wiedman of Henry Illinois, and two daughters Denise (Brad) Moritz of Minonk Illinois, Kimberly(Mariano) Yee of Henry, Illinois. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Jayce (Taylor), Brynn, Sayge, Mariano, Nicolas and Christopher. He was also preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother Bruce.
Scott graduated from Henry Senachawine High School in 1957. He then attended Western Illinois University and Kemper Military School. He began working at the B. F. Goodrich plant in Henry Illinois in 1960 as a production operator and retired 33 years later as an operations supervisor. He owned Scott's Speedwash and was part owner of the Henry Fast Stop and Henry Developers, all located in Henry.
He served in the US Army Reserves for five years and was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 323 in Henry, Illinois. He was active with the Henry Boys Scouts for many years serving as treasurer. He was also a founding member of the Henry Chapter of the Jaycee.
Scott was a sixty year member of the Henry Masonic Lodge 119 where he was a Past Master. He was a member of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Patron. He enjoyed his memberships in the following organizations: Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, Mohammed Shrine of Peoria, and the Royal Order of the Jesters Peoria Court 40.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed duck hunting in the Henry-Putnam area for over 60 years. He also enjoyed his annual trips to South Dakota hunting pheasants.
Scott was an avid Chicago fan. He enjoyed watching the Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks. The Cubs World Series win in 2016 was the highlight.
Scott and Sue enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Northern Wisconsin, swimming in the lake, fishing and taking day trips in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter with their family and friends.
Later in life the grandkids were the light of his life.
Scott was a lifelong member of the Henry Presbyterian Church. He served on many committees and was a Ruling Elder for 15 years. His Church family was very much a part of his life.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Henry Presbyterian Church in Henry, Illinois. There will be a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m.
Additional visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Presbyterian Church in Henry, Illinois with the service to follow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Henry City Cemetery with full military honors.
Dysart – Cofoid Funeral Chapel will be assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Vision for the Poor, MSW Projects and Henry Fire and Ambulance.
