Died: October 1, 2025 in Spring Valley, IL
Thomas Joseph Derix, 66, of Peru, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Goldwater Care, Spring Valley.
A prayer service will be 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Joseph's Church, Peru with Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial to follow in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Tom was born September 23, 1959 to Edward J, and Beverly Mae (Lucas) Derix. Tom worked as a maintenance technician for the county from May 31, 1994 to November 30, 2014. Tom was a very hard worker, loved sports, the outdoors and music. He always made time available for family and friends to help them out.
Survivors include his five brothers and sisters; Beverly Derix of Peru and Patrice Swiskoski of LaSalle, Edward M. (Debbie) Derix of Spring Valley, Lana (Daniel) Vowels of LaSalle and Donald (Phyllis) Derix of Glen Ellyn; 16 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jack.
