Thomas Krueger Obituary

Thomas Krueger
Born: October 3, 1950
Died: November 17, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that the family of Thomas Krueger, age 75, of Oglesby, IL, announces his peaceful passing on Monday, November 17, 2025. A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Vickie, for 51 cherished years, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a man whose life was fueled by simple joys and a sharp wit, Tom will be deeply missed.
Tom approached life with an infectious enthusiasm, often found perfecting his golf swing or planning his next adventure. An avid golfer, his proudest moment on the green came when he achieved a coveted hole-in-one, a highlight he loved to recount. He was a loyal fan of Chicago sports, spending summers rooting for the White Sox, and the winters cheering on the Bears.
Yet, no one could deny that his true 'happy place' was the most magical place on earth. A lifelong Disney Fanatic, he faithfully made pilgrimages to Disney World with his family, ensuring every trip was filled with all of his favorite rides and treats (and always on a schedule!).
He carried a deep respect for tradition and the outdoors, often recalling his favorite pastime: duck hunting with his own father-memories that were priceless to him. He was a man of simple pleasures, famously declaring that he never met a dessert he didn't like, provided it was paired perfectly with an ice-cold Diet Coke.
Beyond his active pursuits, Tom possessed a keen, analytical mind. He loved to keep sharp by solving jigsaw puzzles, word games, and Sudoku, often challenging himself daily. This playful, clever side started early; he often recalled the happy memories of causing mischief with his cousins while growing up (ask them about his childhood nickname!)
Professionally, he channeled his creative and practical skills into design. He spent many dedicated years bookkeeping and designing cabinets at Maze Lumber, before finishing his career as a well-respected kitchen and bath designer at Home Depot, helping countless families realize their dream homes.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Vickie; his two devoted children, Katie (Brian) Dzik and Kristin Shapiro; his three adored grandchildren, Rowan Dzik, Felix Shapiro, and Connell Gapinski; and his two sisters, Cathy Willis and Mary Worthy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Don and mother Sophie.
Tom's legacy is one of warmth, humor, devotion, and a life lived fully and well.
A celebration of Tom's life will be announced at a later date. The Barto Funeral Home, Spring Valley is honored to be assisting Tom's family. A guestbook may be signed and memories shared by visiting bartofh.com.
