Valarie Michael-Kristapovich, 73, of LaSalle, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023, at her home.
Funeral services for Valarie will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 15, at the Seatonville Community Church, with Pastor Brian Moore and Pastor Nathan Lambie officiating. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for Valarie will be held Wednesday, June 14th, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with additional visitation to be held at the church one hour before funeral services on Thursday.
Valarie was born in Spring Valley on October 3, 1949 to Ira and Helen (Coble) Powers. She married Bruce Michael on October 7, 1967 at the Seatonville Congregational Church. He preceded her in death in 1990. She later married James Kristapovich on December 26, 2009.
Valarie was a long-time bus driver for Johannes Bus Service. She was also an avid book reader, and she managed the former B. Dalton Book Store at the Peru Mall. She loved traveling and looked forward to fall trips to Door County. She also enjoyed needlepoint.
Survivors include her husband, James, of LaSalle; her two sons, Chris (Donna) Michael of Princeton and Scott Michael of Wisconsin; her stepchildren, Dawn and James Jr. "Jimmy"; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Christy, Chad, Karla, and Aubrey; as well as six great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Bruce, she was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

My most sincere condolences to your family. My mom named me after Val, of whom she always spoke of with kindness and a smile of their time working together cleaning rooms at Howard Johnson´s. My mom, Margie Zellmer, passed on December 28, 2019. Again, my sympathies to her family.
