William Harrison Obituary

William John Harrison
William "Bill" Harrison, 59, of DePue, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends while jamming to the Grateful Dead.
Funeral services for Bill will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 8 at the DePue First Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Karen Karczewski officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date at the DePue Village Cemetery. Visitation for Bill will be held Monday, March 7, at the Barto Funeral Home in Spring Valley, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, at the church, for one hour prior to funeral services.
Bill was born on February 26, 1963 in Spring Valley to Eldon and Tale (Konters) Harrison. He married Tina Lopez on February 27, 1987 in Laconia, New Hampshire.
Bill was a graduate of DePue High School and had worked as a laborer until his illness. He was a member of the DePue First Congregational Church and had served on the DePue Fire Department.
He had many passions in his life: family, friends, fishing trips to Chetek (where Tina ALWAYS "out-fished" him), tooling around the Illinois Valley (many times/each day), hunting with his boys, boat races, and just sharing his quick wit and opinion with whomever would listen.
Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tina Harrison, of DePue; his daughter, Hannah (Ryan) Vickers of Spring Valley; his two sons, Jared (Christina) Harrison and Wyatt (Jenna) Harrison, both of DePue; his mother, Tale Harrison, of DePue; his grandchildren, Peyton, Brea, Ethan, Gage, Brooks, Nathan, and one on the way; his sister, Robin (Mark) Grilc of DePue; his brothers, Dwain (Jana) Harrison of Somonauk and Benjamin (Kelli) Harrison of Eureka; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Eldon, his mother-in-law, Lois Lopez, and father-in-law, Rudy Lopez.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Wachs, Jacob Grilc, Hillary Templeton, Chris Lopez, Joseph Kershner, and Clarke Harrison.
Memorial donations may be directed to Bill's family. A guestbook may be signed and memories shared with the family by visiting bartofh.com.
Bill will be greatly missed for his sordid laugh, wicked sense of humor, and his general over-all loving demeanor. He is at peace now and with his dad. Love you.

You really haven’t been hugged properly until you received a “Bill Hug”.

My deepest sympathy to all of Bill's family. Bill was definitely a 'one of a kind' guy. He loved nothing more than his family! I had the privilege of getting to know Bill over the past 8 years, and seeing his strength, centered in God, over time. I saw him laugh and cry with his beautiful children and grandchildren...no greater love could come from a son, brother, uncle, husband, and grandfather. I give thanks to God that Bill now rests in God's arms, and we will see him again!

I will never, ever forget Bill's laugh!!
I'll come to say goodbye tomorrow but will always have the memories of your friendliness and orneriness. I also know you were a man who was so successful where it mattered most -- being such a good husband and father!! You've always been surrounded by love, and now I hope you also have peace.
God bless you, Tina, Hannah, Jared, Wyatt, and the rest of your family.

My memories of moving to DePue are not complete if Billy was not in them. He stood up for me when I was picked on, he was a friend throughout my years in town. He loved my dad. To hear him tell a story with such enthusiasm, was epic. He rivaled his uncle Ed, toe-to-toe, in story-telling delivery. Will always miss him. Oh, and he rocked his bibs back in the day, riding around on his bicycle playing video games at the Joint. Loved that guy.
