Donna Hieber Obituary
Donna Maria (Sturm) Hieber, 78, a resident of Moon Twp since 1975, originally from Greenfield in Pittsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at St. Clair Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh on April 25, 1947, she was one of two children to the late Francis "Frank" and Bertha Elizabeth "Betty" (Mesaros) Sturm. Donna was a 1965 graduate of St. Rosalia in Greenfield and immediately was accepted into the Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing. In 1968, she graduated from Ohio Valley Hospital as a Registered Nurse and her nursing career took off. She worked at several hospitals beginning in ICU at Ohio Valley Hospital, moving to Homestead Hospital ICU, and Waynesboro Hospital ICU in Waynesboro, VA. She ended up specializing in Geriatrics, working at Kane Regional Hospital in Ross Township where she retired as a nursing supervisor. She was once a nurse and forever a nurse, showing Christ's love through her encouragement, care, and compassion. Donna loved gardening and plants. Donna also loved shopping at yard sales, thrift stores, and consignment shops and she always walked away with something useful and unique. She was a member of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSHJ)-St. Catherine of Siena Church, the Christian Ladies Society, and the Ohio Valley Hospital Nurses' Alumni Association. Donna's life was blessed by the gift of faith, and she was forever grateful for that blessing. She was the beloved wife for 55 years to Robert E. Hieber III, and loving mother of Robert (Amy) Hieber IV and Frank (Leah) Hieber; Grammy of Maggie, Thomas and Ender; sister of Stephen (Mary Alice) Sturm. She is also survived by many cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation Friday (November 7) 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland's Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. where prayers will be recited on Saturday (November 8) at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church.
