James Burress Obituary

ROANOKE

James Alfred Burress, 49, of 5300 Hawthorne Road, departed this life Friday evening, May 18, 2007, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after suffering a severe stroke.

He was born December 4, 1958, in Plainfield, New Jersey, the son of the late Dove A. and Lois (Boyd) Burress.

After serving briefly in the Military, he moved to Staunton, Virginia. He was an active member in his community. In his later years, he attended Blue Ridge Community College to study Business Administration. He moved to Roanoke, Virginia in 2005, where he continued his schooling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Bernadine Burress and Deborah A. Hasson.

Survivors include three daughters, Sabrina L.A. Burress, Sarena N.A.Burress and Syretta N.A. Burress; two brothers, Gerald Lovelady of North Carolina, and Thomas Burress of Virginia; one sister, Lorena Jones; three grandsons; one granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be conducted 11a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007, at The Apostolic United Pentecostal Church, 810 Norfolk Avenue, Staunton, Virginia, presided by Pastor Cecil R. Hutching and the Reverend James Stewart. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Mausoleums and Memory Gardens.

Viewing will be held at the church two hours prior to the funeral service.

The family will receive friends at 2009 B, Mosley Street, Waynesboro, Virginia.

Kenneth L. Jones Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
