Jerry Otho Cleveland
February 25, 1943 - January 24, 2022
Jerry Otho Cleveland, 78, of Indian Mound Road, Verona, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Cleveland was born in Augusta County, Virginia, on February 25, 1943, a son of the late Joseph Paul and Frances Virginia (Stogdale) Cleveland.
Jerry was a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. He was owner / operator of Jerry O. Cleveland Hauling, he was a member of the Verona Ruritan Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, a member of the Woodmen Life Chapter 167, and a Board Member of the Augusta County 4-H/FFA Market Animal Show. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting toys and junk and he loved telling stories.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by son-in-law, Jerry W. McCray Jr; grandson, Tyler S. Swisher and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Lee Gutshall-McCray.
Left to cherish his memories is his lifelong companion, Toni A. Neeley; two sons, Jeffrey M. Cleveland and wife, Lisa and Todd M. Cleveland and wife, Angela both of Verona; two daughters, Dana C. McCray of Verona, and Sheryl C. Swisher and husband, David of Raphine; five grandchildren, Justin L. McCray, Kristie D. Guyer and husband, Dakota, Elizabeth C. Peters and husband, Chris, Christopher T. Cleveland and wife, Payton, and J.P. Cleveland (Chloe Brown); seven great-grandchildren, Brendan, Carson, Dawson, Emerson, Mason, Madelynn and Marlo; Jerry's (Little Brother) Anthony Hanger; and special pet dogs "Harvey", "Fred" and "Archie".
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022, in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Bill Davis.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Justin McCray, Christopher Cleveland, Brendan Gutshall, J.P. Cleveland, Chris Peters, Dakota Hizer, Anthony Hanger and Scott Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Verona Ruritan Club and Board Members of the Market Animal Show.
The family wishes to express a special "Thank You" to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
