Larry Doyle Fitzgerald

Larry Doyle Fitzgerald, 86, of Waynesboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Larry was born in Waynesboro to the late Christianna M. Fitzgerald and Chester M. Fitzgerald on October 29, 1938. After graduating from Waynesboro High School, he went on to a 32-year career with DuPont, retiring as an electrician supervisor. In his spare time, Larry enjoyed deer hunting and woodworking. He was a jack-of-all-trades who was incredibly talented with his hands. He also adored his family and was heavily involved in his church, West Waynesboro Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Faye Fitzgerald of Waynesboro; and his sons, Michael Troy Fitzgerald and Paul Fitzgerald, both of Waynesboro. He is also survived by his brother, Lyle Chester Fitzgerald; a sister-in-law, Carol Hipes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 1 p.m. at West Waynesboro Church of Christ with Pastor Herb Zabel officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hipes, Christopher Hipes, Bill Fitzgerald, Garland Fitzgerald, Jeff Grant and Tony Grant. Honorary pallbearers will be the Young at Heart Sunday School class.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
