Phyllis Ann (McCray) Robertson, 88, of Fishersville passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at The Meadows, Stuarts Draft Retirement Community.
She was born January 28th, 1934 in Middlebrook, Va. to the late George Henry and Julia Toressa (Almarode) McCray.

Survivors include her children, Tammy Perry and husband, Ron, Debby Berrington and husband, Mike, Patty Borden and husband, Jack, Keith Robertson, and Becky Jenkins and husband, Sonny; grandchildren, Jay Perry and wife, Jackie, Andy Perry, S.J. Borden and wife, Mandy, Colton Berrington, Molly Shiflett and husband, Evan, Niki Cacciapaglia and husband, Brian, and Ben Jenkins and companion, Cheyanne Green; and great-grandchildren Evelyn Perry, Jake Borden, Hallah Kay Shiflett, and Emma Cacciapaglia.
Phyllis is also survived by her brother, Bobby Lee McCray and wife, Billie; sisters-in-law, Lena Robertson, Myriam McCray, and Shirley McCray, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Wilson Memorial High School in 1951, she went on to work as a secretary at W.J. Perry Insurance in Staunton. Her most important work, however, happened at home raising her five children, and being "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active, lifelong member of Fishersville United Methodist Church where she participated in the CBF Class, Nellie Myers Circle, XYZ, and Meals on Wheels.
Phyllis was very talented in the kitchen. She catered and cooked for many events with her special friends. Her grandchildren say that Nanny made the best homemade rolls and mac-n-cheese.
When she wasn't in the kitchen, Phyllis spent her time creating and crafting. She enjoyed painting ceramics, needle-working, making baskets, wood-working, genealogy, and sewing. She was an incredible seamstress making everything from clothes to patchwork quilts.
Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at Fishersville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Peter Choi officiating. There will be a meal and informal visitation with the family following the service.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at The Meadows, Stuarts Draft Retirement Community for their outstanding love and care over the past four years. They would also like to thank Carol and Heidi from Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fishersville United Methodist Church or Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah in Phyllis's memory.
