Wesley Knous Obituary

Wesley "Wes" William Knous Sr. was born on June 23, 1929, in Celina, Ohio. After a long, courageous battle with cancer, our hero, loving husband and devoted father went to be with the Lord on Friday (Jan. 13, 2006). An honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran, he relocated his family to Virginia in 1959 to pursue job opportunities. His successful driving career began as an owner-operator with Subler Trucking, later joining Smith's Transfer in 1962 until his retirement, and then employed with Kingmor Supply after his retirement. Wesley was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, The Loyal Order of the Moose, and Teamsters. His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, horseshoes, gardening, sports, fishing, and playing cards with his grandchildren. Always living life by the credence of honesty, a fair deal and hard work, he lived life to the fullest and touched many lives. He will be remembered for his spirit, laughter and love for his family and friends. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Stella "Gallimor" Knous; one brother, Lowell Knous; and two sons, Cyril G. and Lawrence C. Knous. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Reier Knous; his children and their spouses, Wesley and Sharon Knous Jr., Clifford and Kay Knous, David Knous, Steve and Judy Knous, and Angel Knous; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Hanger, Tonya and Darrell Bush, Spencer and Pat Knous, Shane Knous, Sean Knous, Kristi and John Sharp, April Knous, Tabetha Knous, Brandy Knous, Bobbi Knous, Sammi Knous, Chelsee Knous, Leah Cason, and Kenzie Cason; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Scott, Devon Bush, Destini Knous, and Grayson Sharp; seven brothers, Don Knous of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Allen "Bud" Knous of St. Mary's, Ohio, Simon and Myrtle Knous of St. Mary's, Ohio, James and Jacqui Knous of Celina, Ohio, Lloyd and Patty Knous of Decatur, Ind., Paul and Pat Knous of St. Mary's, Ohio, and Charles "Charlie" and Carole Knous; and five sisters, Evelyn Sorenson of Orange, Calif., Louise Long of Indianapolis, Ind., Joice and Jim Scherer of Carlisie, Ohio, Inez Jacobs of St. Mary's, Ohio, and Julia and Harold Huff of St. Mary's, Ohio The liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 17, 2006) at St. John's Catholic Church by Father J. Stephen Hickman in Waynesboro. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the Stuarts Draft VFW Post No. 9339. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 16, 2006) at Reynolds Funeral Service of Stuarts Draft on Stuarts Draft Highway. Active pallbearers will be Spencer Knous, Shane Knous, Sean Knous, Obie Marston, Rick Carter, and Ted Perry. Alternate pallbearers will be Mark King and Steve Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family has requested that any memorial contributions be made to HOPE, Relay for Life, 907 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, Va., 22939. The family would like to give special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at HOPE and Hospice for all their support and dedication.
