Geneva Current Obituary
Born November 30, 1936, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Geneva was the cherished daughter of Ethel Kitchen and Emory Dials. From an early age, she displayed a love for learning and a deep compassion for others - qualities that would define her life's work.
After graduating from Portsmouth High School, Geneva pursued higher education with determination, earning her degree from Ohio University and master's in education from Mount Saint Joseph College. She dedicated her career to teaching in Piketon Schools where she inspired generations of students with wisdom, patience, and unwavering belief in their potential. Her colleagues and students will remember her as a dedicated mentor and friend.
Geneva married the love of her life, Carl Current, on June 5, 1962. Together they built a home filled with laughter and unconditional love. Their 56-year marriage was a testament to devotion and partnership. Geneva's greatest joy was her family - her children Angela Hurst of Piketon (partner Jeff), David (Toni) of Circleville, OH and Jason (Carol), Cary, NC, six beautiful grandchildren including Ashley (Denim), Marena, Margot (Alli), Julia, Jon (Carol), Luke, and two great grandchildren Jaxon and Kolton. She is also survived by her sister, Emily Adams, of North Carolina.
Geneva was a member of Piketon Jasper United Methodist Church and was active in the community. Known for her sharp mind and love of reading, she could often be found with a book in hand and eager to learn something new.
Geneva will be remembered not only as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, but as a teacher, friend, and role model whose influence will endure through the lives she touched. Her legacy is one of love, learning, and grace.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Howe Wheeler Boyer Funeral Home, Piketon, Ohio with Reverend Harley Roston officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home in Piketon. Geneva Current

We sometimes loose track of family, but never our wonderful memories of them. Geneva was not only a cousin, but my teacher in elementary school. What a treat that was. She and Emily both were close to our father, especially when we all lived on Walnut Street in Portsmouth- family memories.
