Brittany Denise "Bitty" Hood

SEAFORD - Brittany "Bitty" Denise Hood, age 27, of Seaford, Delaware passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 20, 2015. Brittany, known by many as Bitty, earned her name at birth from her two year old twin sisters, Megan and Mandi Hood. She was born August 1, 1988 in Wichita, Kansas, to Karla King Oney, of Seaford, Delaware and Herbert Hood, of Hollis, Oklahoma. From a young age, Bitty learned how to balance a busy schedule while participating in Little League, The Boys and Girls Club activities and Delaware Magic Softball. Bitty served as the 2006 class president of Seaford High School. Widely known for her athletic ability, she excelled in Field Hockey, Basketball, Softball and Track and Field. After high school, Bitty continued her education at Delaware Technical Community College, in Georgetown, in pursuit of a degree in Nursing. Bitty served as student body president, was a member of Key Club, and the Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa. During her time as Delaware Tech, she continued her softball career earning the title of All-Conference, All-Region and 2ND Team All-American. A dedicated employee, like her mother, Bitty spent many years working at Pizza King and Grotto's. Most recently, she worked at the Robins Nest Daycare, in Seaford. Bitty often said while working with "her kids" that she had found her passion. Outgoing, charismatic, spiritual and family-oriented are just a few words to describe Bitty's personality. Full of life, Bitty was a positive role model with an infectious smile. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Bitty was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Harry Pettyjohn. She is survived by her mother, Karla (King) Oney and husband Darryl of Seaford; and her father, Herbert Hood of Hollis, Okla.; maternal grandparents, Jay J and Bonnie King Sr. of Georgetown; and paternal grandmother, Cora Miller of Rehoboth Beach; two sisters, Megan and Mandi Hood of Seaford; brother, Brian Hood of Lawton, Okla.; two nephews, Jayden Hood and Casen Palmer; lifelong best friends, Erica Huck and Ashley Hastings and companion, Samantha Savage, all of Seaford. She will be greatly missed by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, classmates, coaches and teammates. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Bitty Hood to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at www.afsp.org or simply preform a spontaneous act of kindness. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Crossroads Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd, Georgetown, where friends may visit at the church from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
