Eleanor Foraker Obituary

FELTON - Eleanor Foraker passed away at Delaware Hospice Center on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 after a short illness. She was 81. Eleanor was born on September 2, 1930 in Kenton, to William and Elsie Conley. Eleanor retired from ILC Dover after 43 years. She was involved in the early years of the space program. She contributed to many projects at ILC, including gas masks, underground inflatable oil tanks and space suits. She was truly dedicated to the making of space suits. Eleanor was a gifted sewer, manager and had a get it done attitude. The last project Eleanor was involved in was the Pathfinder Mission. She contributed to the making of the landing bag that protected the Sojourner Rover that explored Mars. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and cooking. Eleanor was very dedicated to her grandchild and great-grandchildren. She took them shopping, played games and cooked their favorite foods. In recent years she especially enjoyed baking cookies, cakes and pies with great-granddaughter Jami. Eleanor was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Robinson, Catherine Thompson and Marion Reed; brothers, John (Billy) Conley and Thomas Conley; and son, Thomas Edward Hill. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Nuss and husband James; a granddaughter, Britt Robertson and her significant other Ronnie Mounts with whom she lived; and great-grandchildren, Kagan Nuss, Chase Mounts and Jami Mounts. She is also survived by a sister-in law, Doris Conley of Easton, Md. and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at The Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge on Moose Lodge Rd., Camden-Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Center 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.

I am certainly sorry to hear about Eleanor. I worked with her many years at ILC and enjoyed bowling with her. My thoughts and prayers are with the Family during this difficult time.
