George Howard Obituary

MILFORD - George C. Howard passed away peacefully at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014. George was born on Nov. 30, 1934 in Marion Station to the late Fletcher and Stella (Franklin) Howard. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. George was employed and retired as a maintenance mechanic with the Milford School District. He was active in his community as well especially devoted to Milford Little League, where he coached the Indians team for many years and was awarded the William E. Morris, Jr. memorial award for outstanding Little League community involvement and unselfish dedication in 1988. George was a charter member of the Elks Lodge #2401 in Milford, and a 50 year member of the Masonic Temple Lodge No 9 A.F.&A.M. in Milford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings. He is survived by two brothers, Stanley (Dee) Howard of Wilmington, and Ernest (Melva) Howard of Milford; a sister, Carolyn Carmine of Crisfield, Md.; two special nephews, Kevin Howard of Milford, and Chad Zook of Ocean View; and many other nieces, nephews and good friends. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford. Services will begin at 12 p.m. with the Elks and Masonic Lodges participating. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in George's memory to the Tunnel Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Hwy 201, Rehoboth, DE, 19971.
