John Lingo Obituary

John Floyd Lingo, Jr GEORGETOWN - John Floyd Lingo, Jr., known to many as, "J. Floyd", of Georgetown, died Friday, June 25, 2010 in his home. He was 78. J. Floyd was born, on "Ennis Hill" in Georgetown, July 5, 1931, son of the late John and Jessie (Ennis) Lingo, and great grandson of the late Nora Viola Ennis. He lived his entire life on the property at which he was born and died. J. Floyd married Nancy Brickner, in 1949. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September of last year. He worked in a variety of occupations during his lifetime. Among other things, J. Floyd was a farmer, Rehoboth Beach police officer, employee of the Cape May - Lewes Ferry and an employee of the U.S. Postal Service. He especially enjoyed fishing and spending time in Florida. J. Floyd was much loved by his family and will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, John Lingo and wife Bobbi, of Milton; daughter, Leslie Elliott and husband David, of Georgetown; grandchildren, Jessica Johnson and Robert Lingo; sister, Charlotte Jones and husband Park; nephews, Charles and Bill Jones; great nephew, Charlie Jones and many friends. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, where friends may call from 12 Noon - 2 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or Tunnell Cancer Center, c/o Beebe Medical Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
