Walter Warrington Obituary

Walter Scarborough Warrington, 83

GALENA - Walter Scarborough Warrington, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. He was 83. Walter was born May 7, 1925 in Providence, Md., son of the late James and Wilamina Moore Warrington. Walter served with the United States Army as a Master Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. Aside from his time in the army Walter worked his entire life in the horse industry. He was an auctioneer, rider, instructor, trainer, driver and in his latter years, a representative for horse organizations. During Walters's lifetime he worked with almost every breed and type of horse from plow horse, jumping horse, polo pony, rodeo horse, backyard riding horse, thoroughbred and standard bred. With the passing of Walter the Lord has added a true horseman to his roster in Heaven. He was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Scott; and a brother, James Warrington Jr. Walter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Pauline Leising Warrington; seven children, Daniel and Jane Warrington, Steven and Linda Warrington, all of Galena, Cynthia and Donald Hawk of Cornelius, N.C., Jamee and Jerry Wetzel of Findlay, Ohio, Marci and Joseph Mattes of Concord, N.C., Rebecca and Thomas Pitre, and Timothy & Kathy Warrington, all of Galena; a sister, Mildred Weed of Elkton; a brother, Edward Warrington of Townsend, Del., 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena. Graveside service at 4 p.m. in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Cherry Hill, Md. Memorials may be offered to Christian Harness Horseman's Assoc., 1846 Ross Rd., Sunbury, OH 43074.
