Charles Edward
Farmer, 83
Charles Edward Farmer passed away September 10, 2021. He was born on February 21, 1938 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Walter and Reva (Merritt) Farmer. He was a member of First Baptist of Okeechobee and Ebenzer Baptist of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He enjoyed Nascar, antique car shoes and bowling.
Charlie was a faithful husband, father, friend and most importantly a faithful servant of the Lord. He moved to Okeechobee from Knoxville, Tennessee in 1961 with his new bride, Myrna. Together they made Okeechobee their home and quickly started investing into their community. He was the owner of Hillbilly Auto Parts and Co-Owner of Jim's Parts Place. Charlie was most generous and always willing to help anyone he could, if you came to him with a problem he would help you find a solution. He is remembered by his family and friends as always being a happy soul, and for always having a little saying that would leave you with a smile on your face. Like, "Time to ride with Clyde"; "Fine as a frog hair"; "Faster then a herd of turtles"; "Don't take any wooden nickels" In fact when he knew it was getting to be his time, he told his family that he was ready to "slide on outta here". He was a genuine, honest man who worked hard to always provide for his family, his church and his community. To know Charlie was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Myrna Dyer Farmer; sister in law, Aida Farmer; and brother in Christ, J.D Coker.
He is survived by his son, David Farmer, of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Tamera Farmer Kenbeek (Jim), Penny Bauer (Gary), both of Okeechobee; grandchildren, Stephany Dupree (Mark), Matthew Maples (Kim), Bobby Lewis (Abby), Amanda Rosenbalm (Brian), Chad Farmer (Jessica), DeAnna DeMarcus (Brad), Tabitha Lewis, Trace Farmer; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother, Jimmy Farmer, of Knoxville, Tenn. and Jackie Farmer (Bobby), of Knoxville, Tenn.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 3 p.m to 6 p.m at Buxton and Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. Burial will be held Saturday, 18, 2021 at 3 p.m in Knoxville, Tennessee at Thorngrove Cemetery.
