Susan Jadus Obituary



Susan V. Jadus, 74 CAMBRIDGE - Susan V. Jadus, of Cambridge, died Sunday evening, August 31, 2008, in Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge. She was 74. Born on Oct. 20, 1933, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Charles McCalliskey and Annie Teresa O'Neill McCalliskey. Susan immigrated to the U.S. in 1953, and attended the State University of N.Y. in Stone Ridge. She was the consummate volunteer and fund raiser. During her political career, she was also the Chair of the Republican Party in Ulster County N.Y. Susan was elected as Town Council Woman for the town of Marbletown in Stone Ridge, N.Y., where she served for 16 years. Susan was an active volunteer at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in the Breast Cancer Unit. On Jan. 9, 1994 she married Dale K. Jadus. Susan was an avid sailor as is her husband Dale. They moved to Cambridge to enjoy the beautiful Choptank River and the Chesapeake Bay. Again, Susan became entrenched with her community by volunteering. She never met a stranger and her outgoing personality made everyone feel good to be in her presence. Her genuine caring and love of people will always be remembered. Susan was a communicant of St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church and served as the St. Mary's Society's treasurer. She volunteered for Care and Share Foundation, a member of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Commander, Division 5, PS (public safety) officer. Susan was also a volunteer for the Delmarva Community Services and Cambridge MAC Center since October 6, 2003. She enjoyed bingo and was successful in obtaining the Center's first bingo machine. Susan assisted in many of the Center's functions such as the Health Fair for Seniors at Cambridge and Hurlock, assisted with the oyster suppers, bake sales and supporter of various trips provided by the Center. She was also a memeber of the Veterans Recognition Committee. She was currently writing a book of her life. Surviving besides her husband of fourteen years, Dale K. Jadus of Cambridge, are four children from her previous marriage to Robert Glenn. They are Mary Treasa Bambino and her husband John of Roselle, N.J., Irwin Glenn and his wife Iris of Hurley, N.Y., Christina Glenn of Liberty, N.Y., Annmarie Claus and her husband Peter of Kingston, N.Y.; two step-children, Brian K. Jadus and his wife Tammy of Burlington, Vt., Keith Albert Jadus and his wife Michelle of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, James McCalliskey of Wallkill, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, John and Keri Bambino, Liah Darlington, Shane Pavlidis, Kate Glenn, Shannon Glenn-Parker, Melanie Glenn, Zachary Jonas, Rachel Glenn, Victoria and Alex Jadus and many nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and Ireland. Preceding her in death besides her parents, were five siblings, Jean, Charles, Teresa (Teassie), Henry and Roseleen. Susan's final wish was to be cremated. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., Cambridge with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, in St. Mary, Refuge of Sinners Catholic Church, Glasgow St. and Hambrooks Blvd., Cambridge. Celebrant of the Wake and Mass will be The Rev. William J. Lawler, Rector. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date. Susan would be most pleased by a memorial offering honoring her be made to find a cure for breast cancer to Susan G. I'm sorry we could not pay our respects in person. Aunt Susie will be missed.Especially her singing Jimmie Mack into our ans.machine. She was one of a kind! Our condolences to Dale and family.
