FORT WORTH, Texas - Thomas C. Potter died on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born in Cambridge in 1934 and was a Cambridge resident for most of his life before moving to Texas in 2000 to help raise his eldest son's four children.
Mr. Potter was the son of the late Thomas "Babe" and Imogene Potter. He married Katherine Simmons in 1960 and they had four children.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school, then attended Villanova University for two years before starting his career with the Maryland State Government for 34 years in Annapolis. He was an active member of American Legion Dorchester Post 91.
He is survived by his brother, Wayne Potter; and his sister, Harriett Pritchett, both of Cambridge; his four children, Michael Potter of Fort Worth, Texas, Steven Potter of Charlotte, N.C., Patrick Potter of Arlington, Va. and Anne Dunn of Preston; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Eastern Shore Veterans' Cemetery in East New Market at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. A reception for friends and family will follow at the American Legion Dorchester Post 91 in Cambridge from 12 to 3 p.m.
