William Russell "Beans" Marine

Salisbury, Md. - William Russell "Beans" Marine died on Friday, June 29, 2018 at his home. He was born on Feb. 4, 1933 in Hurlock, Md., son of the late Alonza Washington Marine and Inez Todd Marine.
Mr. Marine served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a shift engineer/supervisor with Delmarva Power for over thirty eight years retiring in 1993. He enjoyed bowling, having participated in many leagues where his colleagues referred to him as "dead eye". He also enjoyed shuffle board, playing pool, traveling, going to the slots, and playing the daily lottery. Beans was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He was a member of VFW Post 194 in Salisbury, where he served on the honor guard for several years, and a member of the American Legion Post 243 in Hurlock. His family was always his priority.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Faye Marine; four children, Russell Keith Marine (Brenda), Kevin Lee Marine (Denise), Brooks Keith Phippin (Toni), and Donna Rae Knopf; ten grandchildren, James Brandon Phippin, Kristen Brooke Hayden, Brooke Leigh Marine, Jami Leigh Myers, Lindsay Nicole Poehlman, Rachel Katherine Marine, Nicholas Kevin Marine, Heather Anna Marine, Jeremy Spencer Knopf, and Brecklyn Joie Bounds; five great grandchildren, Daniel, Makai, Ian, Avery, and Harper; a sister, Sara Beckwith; two brothers, H. Donald Marine, and James Marine (Louise); several nieces and nephews, special daughter-in-law, Sue I. Marine, and a special buddy, Joe Duncan. He was preceded in death by a son, William Russell "Rusty" Marine, Jr., two brothers, Alonza "Al" W. Marine, Jr., and George Roger "Peaches" Marine, and a sister, Martha Virginia Bland.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A, 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, MD 21601. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 12 p.m. at the funeral Home. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock.
