What a voice. The last time i saw him in concert was at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Fl. Awesome man, my wife at the time was having marriage issues. My favorite song of Jays was Walking in the Rain. I gave a request to his road manager explaining our situation and if he could dedicate that song to my wife. He did it and she cried her eyes out. Jay will be missed. God Bless you Jay REST IN PEACE SIR.

Back in the seventies , Jay would visit a friend of his at a bar on Liberty Ave . ( city line ) in Brooklyn , New York. After his visit Jay and I would walk the Ave. And just talk. Jay's voice was magnificent. His vocals on "Cara Mia" continue to astound me. The only other singer I would put in the same category would be Roy Orbison. I have been saddened over the years to read that Jay's post--Jay and the Americans-- life was often rocky. I and all music fans of my generation will miss him greatly. I wrote a tribute to you and your family dear Duvidel, but it wasn't published, because I guess it was in Yiddish, which our families speak. So, here it again in English: May your precious "neshama" (soul), rest among all the righteous in "Gan Eden" (Paradise). A singer myself, I met you several times (personally), and told you I honored you by singing your beautiful "Wu Ist Der Geseleh," (Where is the Village), always paying great tribute to you, at every performance I had. No one had a voice like yours, so heart rending....I am deeply saddened by your loss, but your angelic talent and voice will live eternally , long after we are all gone.
ecalled by all who loved you. Sending deep and sad condolences to your "mishpocheh".(famiy). You will always be with me in thought and love. "Baruch Dayan HaEmes." With eternal love, Barbara, (Beilah Esther Rothschild.) Rest in peace, dear friend......
